This was a great spot for dinner, right on the plaza in downtown Santa Fe. The food was delicious, large variety of meals including all day breakfast meals. The service was spot on and very friendly. So glad we checked them out for dinner!

We still heart this place so much! We came here for lunch with our pals today who had never been, and we talked it up so much that we really hoped it would deliver, and boy did it ever. There was a bit of a wait and once we were sat, we were there for a while and never felt any pressure to be rushed out. We all started with their legacy margarita, which could have used a tad bit more lime but was nice and refreshing otherwise. The appetizer trio is still a great start to the meal, and while we aren't in love with the brand of tortilla chips they use, the three dips--salsa, guac, and queso--are a great way to kick the party off. For mains, we shared the posole and the stuffed sopapilla. The soup was...OK. The meat was tender enough and the hominy was fresh and there were plenty of accoutrements, and yet...it didn't blow our socks off. But still, it was good enough. The stuffed sopapilla with ground beef, on the other hand, was amazing. Lips burning from the Christmas saucing (appreciate that they keep it hot and spicy) with wonderful fillings and above average rice and beans on the side. So good! For dessert, the kiddos shared a strawberry milkshake that we sampled, which was well-crafted, and the complimentary sopapillas for the table were still top notch. We love the decor in here and we love the hustle-and-bustle, and just everything about it. Our server was really nice and never tried to move us along while we hung out boozing for a bit. The Plaza Cafe has officially reached Counter Culture-level status with us in the pantheon of places that we absolutely MUST visit when we are in town. Five stars going strong two years in a row, which is saying a lot from us!

Oh wow I was very pleasantly surprised by this place! They really use good quality ingredients here and you can taste the difference! The beef sopapilla was like a meat pie with a full on pastry type crust! The beef tacos were more like what I'd expect the sopapilla to be like, very light crispy fused together shell holding the yummiest flavors inside. We finished off the meal with a mango milkshake that was so dreamy we couldn't put it down until every drop was gone! Also to top off the great food, they have very fast and attentive service! And I am still daydreaming about the BISCHIQUITOS- the mini cookies they give you at the end of the meal. Such unique flavor of anise and cinnamon sugar. I want to go buy a package to take home!

In Santa Fe for a conference an grabbed breakfast at the Plaza Cafe. This is an old school diner - and Santa Fe's oldest restaurant. Think classic vinyl booths, subway tiles, Art Deco lighting, and southwest touches. Regulars and tourists. Good basic diner food and great nostalgia.

Oh my oh my! The restaurant was amazing. Loved the old diner vibe. The waiters were so friendly and gave us good recommendations - Santa Fe must-haves! The blue corn enchiladas were amazing. We also ordered a green chile burger and it was probably the best burger I have ever had. It was so unique and I just loved the little spiciness in it. Also- Can't leave Santa Fe without the signature biscochito! It was a new flavor in my taste bud and I loved it. A little anise and cinnamon and not overwhelming. I truly enjoyed it.

This has got to be our most favorite breakfast place of all time!! The food is so amazing!! The staff is super friendly. And the location...well you can't beat it, downtown Santa Fe, come on!! My absolute favorite is the blue corn piñon pancake. This speaks "New Mexican". They serve it with cinnamon syrup and butter. But you have to ask them to give you their homemade hibiscus marmalade. OMG! It is so good. We also ordered their mint tea and we got a surprise when it was mint with blue pea tea. It was a nice surprise! And you can't forget the biscochitos at the end. If you don't know, NM has a state cookie, biscochitos. They are like a sugar cookie with anise. In this case, they are tiny hence the name bischiquitos!! We came back in the evening and ordered their Mexican hot chocolate and enjoyed the wonderful Sant Fe plaza. Right now with all the Christmas lights, it's a must see!! Please make this a must see spot in your visit to Santa Fe. It is amazing!

4.5 stars Finally got to try the seasonal pumpkin posole here! I like the vibe of this place- outdoor seating for perfect viewing of events on the plaza and the indoor seating represented an old diner. We didn't have to wait long to get seated or to be served. Food came out quickly (though the posole was a little cold). I'm not sure it really tasted like pumpkin, but the crunch of the pepita was a good blend with the creaminess of the broth and sour cream and the heat of the green chile. It had a good flavor to it and came with a fluffy tortilla (16.95). There was a variety on the menu from burgers and boozy milkshakes to enchiladas. We got served two mini biscochitos with our check and it came with two stickers and a postcard. Overall, an enjoyable visit. 2024 #69

While visiting Santa Fe my wife developed a carving for homemade Sopapillas, not knowing where to go she asked a clerk in a gift shop and was told go to the Plaza Cafe at the Santa Fe Plaza. When we arrived there was a good crowd both inside and dining outside. We were immediately seated and ordered our Sopapillas . The restaurant was clean and the service was great. When our Sopapillas arrived they looked and tasted great. We were glad we came to Plaza Cafe and would return if given a chance.
